Anchorage length of patented wire cables in prestressed bridge girders

چکیده

Abstract This paper briefly describes the methodology, performance and obtained results of unique experiments performed on original I-73 precast bridge girders. The main objective was to determine actual anchorage length corroded-through fully grouted prestressing reinforcement (prestressing wires), which is important for determination residual load-bearing capacity prestressed structures. Observation probes leading all way wires were drilled selected sections girders along reinforcement. Optical image acquisition devices then installed at these probes. Subsequently, controlled breakage patented (corrosion failure simulation) observation changes that occurred in after relief stress carried out. Evaluation by analyzing images before failure.

Effects of Temperature Variations on Precast, Prestressed Concrete Bridge Girders

The monitoring of a precast, prestressed girder bridge during fabrication and service provided the opportunity to observe temperature variations and to evaluate the accuracy of calculated strains and cambers. The use of high curing temperatures during fabrication affects the level of prestress because the strand length is fixed during the heating, the coefficients of thermal expansion of steel ...

Excessive Long-Time Deflections of Prestressed Box Girders

The segmental prestressed concrete box girder of Koror-Babeldaob (KB) Bridge in Palau, which had the record span of 241 m (791 ft.), presents a striking paradigm of serviceability loss due to excessive multi-decade deflections. The data required for analysis have recently been released and are here exploited to show how the analysis and design could be improved. Erected segmentally in 1977, thi...
